You lost me when you suggested buying warped or twisted wood. I would only do this if I wanted to ruin my day!

Lowe’s and Home Depot also will send receipts to your email. I get them all the time since I buy things for work (drill bits, tips, batteries, etc). This not only let’s me keep them for the return, I also have an easy tally for tax time for “cost of doing business” as an independent contractor.

Perfectly said. The other thing I would add is be very selective when it comes to items that are “close” to what you want. Settling for items that you can “make it work” can be an ongoing disappointment long after the purchase. Be sure that the money saved outweighs the shortcomings and or extra work that the “not 1st choice” item will surely present as time goes on.

I drove 3 hours to and 3 hours from a town on Craigslist to get a $350 item for $100. I am pleased with my decision but it did consume an entire Saturday and $20 in gas. But it was the exact item that I would have purchased retail so in my mind it was worth it. I don’t make $250 a day working and the not having to pay sales tax covered the gas cost too.

Looking forward to seeing your cargo trailer creation become reality. Keep up the good work.

I agree, even if you are not doing a cargo trailer revamp, purchasing middle of the road products is ALWAYS the way to go, as spiritual beings we are constantly shifting in life. I love clearance items for any purchase. Great points ?
